Celebrating an Anniversary

Marriage is a gift from God and calls spouses to be   parners with God in fostering a relationship of  love and   life. The occassion of an anniversary is a time to gather   with family, friends and parishioners to give thanks to   God for the gift of love.   The parish offers a special   blessing during Sunday Mass for couples celebrating major anniversaries.   It is also possible to have a special Mass on a weekday or Saturday afternoon. Contact the parish office for further information.

Marriage is a human reality and a saving mystery.  It is fullest meaning comes from the Christian faith and it is governed by civil law.  Different cultures and ages have defined and celebrated it in various ways.  The Catholic Tradition has defined it as a covenant by which a man and a woman establish between themselves a partnership of the whole of life.  In the Catholic Church, marriage is one of our seven sacraments.  It is an efficacious sign of grace, instituted by Christ and entrusted to the Church by which divine life is shared with us.
