BLOOD DRIVES

BLOOD DRIVES

Donating blood is a corporal work of mercy.

So three times a year, St. Vincent de Paul Parish hosts a blood drive for Bloodworks Northwest, the primary supplier for more than 90 hospitals in the Pacific Northwest, providing well over 95% of all blood components used by local patients.

Our next blood drive is Thursday, May 9, 2024. During our February 2024 drive, 19 units of blood were collected, and there were five first-time donors! Donors can give blood every 56 days.

Donating blood is critically important for maintaining a stable blood supply for surgeries and medical emergencies, and for people battling cancers. These are just two testimonials from those benefitting from donations:

“Thank you for taking time out of your busy life to donate blood. My husband has a blood cancer which destroys his red blood cells and platelets and requires transfusions every week to ten days. Your donation is giving my husband time for his chemo drug to start taking effect. Thank you so much for your gift of life.”

“Your blood has helped my beloved dad feel better and recover from serious illness. Thank you for your selfless donation!”
